Dear parents,
I developed the idea for Spirit Fighter and the Son of Angels Series primarily for my own kids. My older two are both avid readers and enjoy books with fun, courageous characters, doing things that matter. While they’ve enjoyed some fantastic tales based in pure fantasy and ancient mythology, I began to wonder if there were compelling stories to be told to a middle-grade audience that were centered instead on the unique set of truths found in the Bible. The story of Jonah Stone and his family was born out of that desire. (When my two oldest, ten and eight at the time, read the first draft and loved it, I knew I’d already done what I’d set out to do!)
What will your kids find in Spirit Fighter? My hope and prayer is that they will see themselves in Jonah and Eliza, and realize that they have unique, God-given gifts the world desperately needs them to use. I want them to know that there is a “hidden realm”, where a spiritual conflict is going on – unseen, but very real. They can choose either to ignore it, or courageously enter the battle. And finally, I hope they will see that there is a God who loves them and wants nothing more than to win them to Himself.
Your friend in the battle,
Jerel
